Golf del Sur is one of the courses in Spain to be certificated with the TUV on the standards ISO 14001 and Golf of the Biosphere. Since last year and following the suggestions of the Institute for Responsible Tourism (ITR), the management has been focusing its activity on a better control and use of the consumptions, waste, residuals and emissions. The substitution of petrol buggies for electrical ones was one of the first aims to be achieved in the environmental policy.
In the golf course, special attention is paid to the conservation of the native flora and fauna and their introduction in the renewing of the actual links to improve at the maximum its ecological potential. The project will lead as well, to the preparation of a birds guide living in their natural habitat in the south of Tenerife, to be offered to our clients and give this way a plus value to the green fee. In its first edition it will include only the birds but later on, it will include the flora as well, and it will be part of a bigger project about the biodiversity of the golf courses of the Canary Islands. These actions also include a vital area of the friendly environmental development: our staff. This is why we give them conferences and chats about the importance of their attitude and work. And in their updating trainings we have included special courses about quality services and environment management.
